All of us at Cavitt look forward to providing a rich learning experience both in and out of the classroom. 2020 Parent Orientation Hello Cavitt Families! As families with a student about to enter junior high, this time is usually a combination of excitement and nervousness for families as well as students! I know, as a school principal as well as a mom of 7th-grade twins, that this school closure has and is impacting many aspects of our lives and probably creating more anxiety about the transition to Cavitt! In a typical spring, we plan many activities to help students and families get to know us, to feel the kindness of the staff and students, and compassion that fills the Cavitt campus. These early “connections” are important to us as we know that the more comfortable students are the easier the beginning of the year will be for your child! This year, sadly, that is not an option as we all Sheltering-in-Place to keep our families and community safe. We were saddened that your child’s visit to the Cavitt campus with his/her class had to be canceled and that all of the other spring activities needed to be canceled also (Family Orientation Night with presentations by Cavitt teachers and staff, STEM Open House and our General Open House). Prior to going off for closure, the Cavitt teachers recorded his/her Family Orientation presentations so that we could use technology to import ourselves into your homes. To make it easier to watch the videos, our amazing Student Director Jacob, broke the videos down into more manageable segments. (We are so grateful for amazing students!) Please take a bit of time and watch the videos created with love to support your child’s and your transition to our school. We are humbled with the trust you place in us to educate, emotionally support and inspire your child!
